The West Street Gang by Doric Wilson

In August 1977, Theater Rhinoceros performed its first play, Doric Wilson's WEST STREET GANG, at the Black and Blue Bar in San Francisco. Commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the event, The Rhino will present a staged reading of the play under the direction of Christopher Chase at The Stud. The play features a group of queers in a bar on West Street in Greenwich Village who are figuring out how to defend themselves from a number of fag bashers (ranging from street gangs, opportunistic political figures, Anita Bryant, and even the owners of the bar). All of the bashers eventually turn up in the bar--And are dealt with by the newly formed West Street Gang.
